Glissade

Glissade, 1990 Westfalen Gelding Guarantor X Puritano, owned by Amanda Johnson Glissade was purchased in Wisconsin from Caryn Vesperman as a Training Level horse in December 1995.  In 1996, he competed at First and Second levels.  By 1998, I had trained him to PSG on my own with help only from clinicians.  We were NAYRC Region 4 team members from 1999 to 2001.  During this time, I was a working student for George Williams, and George and I were able to train Glissade to Grand Prix in 2001.  In 2003 we tried for the USEF (formerly USET) National Grand Prix Championships.  Glissade’s career high scores were 65% in Grand Prix and 70% in Grand Prix Freestyle.  Glissade won many Regional and National awards including 2000 USDF Horse of the Year, I-1 3rd place with a 68% median.  Glissade was retired in 2004 and due to an unfortunate illness had to be put down shortly after his retirement.

Romance

1997 Westfalen mare.  Romance is a homebred horse, we bred one of our Morgan mares, Miranda, to Puritano.  Once started undersaddle Romance went with me to Gypsy Woods Farm when I was a working student.  It was on her that I learned some fabulous young horse exersizes, that I use on every young horse I ride to this day.  Romance had some success in her riding career, receiving 70′s at 1st level and mid 60′s at second level.  She was schooling half steps, passage, and flying changes when we decided it was time to breed her.  We love this mare, but wanted to improve her canter, so our choice in her mate was Fabuleaux.  This resulted in Foley.  Romance is now enjoying her time as a schoolmaster for Pip’s owner, Barrie Anderson.  She is loved by all.

Jamaal

Jamaal was a 2002 18+ hand black Percheron gelding.  His job was to consistently shock and awe all who saw him.  Jamaal schooled 3rd and 4th level, and was taught to do Piaffe, Passage and Pirouettes.  He always created a fan club everywhere he went.  Jamaal showed second level in 2009 with many scores into the 70′s.  Jamaal proved dressage is for all and every horse.

 Vemilion B

Vemilion B came to Amanda for training and showing.  Vemilion started off a little hot headed and had quite a few antics in the show arena.  With consistant work, Vemilion setteled into his job and started to perform very well.  He placed 8th out of 24 in his Training Level Regional Championship class.  He also finished the season with a 74% median and 11th place for the USDF Horse of the Year at Training Level!  Vemilion was recently sold to Susan Bemis.

Freedom

Freedom was a super talented 1999 Westfalen gelding by Florestan.  In 2005, Amanda had the opportunity to show Freedom, as Rita had knee surgery and could not ride.  It was a successful season to say the least!  Multiple high point awards, USDF Region 4 First Level Champion, USDF Region 4 Second Level Reserve Champion, Midwest First Level Reserve Champion, Midwest Second Level Champion and the Region 4 CSDCTA First Level Perpetual Trophy for the highest championship ride at First Level across all divisions.  Freedom also won USDF Horse of the Year awards: 11th place First Level 72.5% median, 9th place Second Level, 68.8% median.  He also was the Westfalen Horse Association Second Level Champion and First Level Reserve Champion.  His flying changes were confirmed in the Fall of 2005, and his training was going super with sights set on trying for the 2007 Pan Am Games (if Rita would let me).   An unfortunate spiral fracture of his left hind pastern forced his early retirement Nov. 2005.  My heart goes out to Rita everyday.  The Freedom was one of a kind.
