Foley was again super at this show, taking High Point of the show with a 78.8% at Training 4, he also scored a 77% in Training 2! Pip put in a decent Grand Prix, scoring a 64% and taking FEI High Point honors. Gylano put in two super tests, scoring a 74.4% in First 4, and a 69.5% in Second 4. Look for Sophia to show him in August! Hannah and Pearl had their Third Level debut, with a 64% in Third 1 and finished their Second Level requirements for their bronze medal with a 67% in Second 2. Only one more third level score for her bronze medal! Katie and Nirvana also did well scoring a 66% at Third 3 and Fourth 1. Congrats all!
IDCTA Summer Kickoff at Lamplight was another successful weekend for Amanda Johnson Dressage LLC. Foley is getting better and better with every show, this time receiving the reserve champion at Training Level with a 77.143%!
He also put in a great USEF 4 year old test scoring a 79.6%! Pip put in a good I-2 for a 65.789%, and a 67% for his GP Freestyle. I had two new horses to show this weekend. Renee McKinley’s Donarkeil, aka Donnie, made his show debut, and proved that he belongs in the show ring! He scored a 71 and a 76.429% at training level, look out for him in the future with Renee! Gylano, owned by Sophia Daukus, started off a little shaky in the show ring but soon was trying his heart out and putting in some great tests at First and Second Level, scoring up to a 73% at First Level and a 68.571% and qualifying for Regional Championships. Nicole and Oxford received their final qualifying scores for NAJRC, and rocked out on Sunday at Third level scoring a 67% and a 68.372%! Deanna and True Colors, aka Boo, put in some solid Training Level tests and scored a 65% at Training 2 and 3! Congrats everyone, and thanks to Hannah for grooming and taking photos!

Another good horse show! We lucked out on the weather as it looked like it was going to thunderstorm everyday, but we only had one little rain shower. Nicole did a great job, and received 65%’s in her Jr Team and Individual tests! Foley had a terrific weekend, had the high score of the show on Friday with a 73% at Training 4, got a 77% in his material class, and a 75% in the USEF 4 Year Old test! Pip was super, we had very rideable piaffe and passage work, received no scores lower than a 6 on those movements, and lots of 7’s! Improvement! Janet Foy gave us a 66.8% for a very consistent I-2 test. We debuted our Grand Prix Freestyle, and it was a success! I decided to change the entire piaffe-passage-trot routine Thursday night before the show (choreography and music)! So Friday was my first time riding through the new freestyle. It went well, and we had a great time, a 74%! I showed it again on Saturday, and had just about as good of a ride, and equally as much fun, for a 72.75%! Now, off to Lamplight and hope it just isn’t beginners luck!
Dressage at Lamplight CDI was a successful show! Nicole swept the FEI Junior Division, Pip had one good Grand Prix, and Foley had a terrific first away show! Pip took home the Grand Prix Champion High Point both days. On Friday we were the last ride of the day and lucky enough to ride in a thunderstorm! I could see the black clouds roll in as I was getting on and by the time I went down centerline, there was rain and thunder! Pip did excellent in the test, we got our piaffe, passage, and transitions and received a 64% from judges Natalie Lampling and Gary Rockwell (a 66% from Mr. Rockwell!!)! Upon reviewing the video from our other rides, I just did not have him engaged enough in the warm up, we will work on that! Foley was a super-star, very well behaved for his first away horse show. He received a 75.8% in the Material, a 74% in Training 4, and a 73.6% in the USEF 4 Year Old Test! Foley also received the Reserve Champion High Point at Training Level for the first show. Working student Hannah did a great job grooming and taking photos, thank you!
Along with riding in the clinic I was also preparing my young horse, Foley, and Nicole for the upcoming Silverwood Dressage Show. Saturday morning I was able to watch a few lessons at Tempel, go coach Nicole, and come back and ride in my lesson, then go back and show Foley!
In my rushing around from clinic, show, clinic, show, I did not take enough time for my young 4 year old Foley before his first class. He had been perfect the day before schooling (and everyday before that), so I didn’t think much of a little rushing before his test. Bo
y was I wrong! I got him ready, then got right on, and proceeded to get dumped right off! Poor horse couldn’t handle the show atmosphere, and I didn’t give him the time to adjust! Luckily, I was not hurt at all and the horse was fine, and I was able to get back on and have enough warm up time before my class started. We ended up with a 68% at Training 4, his very first class, after the first time he bucked me off! The next day he received a 71% at Training 4. Nicole had a good start to the FEI Jr Qualifying season, placing second and third in her classes! Dee and Dimitri had a good first show with a 65% at First level!
